Price Range
Our price range for custom glass architectural panels is $175 to $500 per square foot. This range reflects the varied techniques that are available to us - and you - to achieve a one-of-a-kind work for your home or office.
Starting Point of $175 per square foot allows us to produce traditional leaded stained glass panels with bevels and clear or coloured traditional stained glass which often produces an antique, elegant look, or leaded stained glass panels with fused glass. The price range is usually $175 - $300 per square foot. The quantity and size of the beveled pieces affect the price.
Starting Point of $180 per square foot allows us to produce traditional copper foiled stained glass panels with bevels and clear or coloured traditional stained glass, or copper foiled stained glass panels, with fused glass. The price range is usually $180 - $300 per square foot. Copper foil work demands more time and expertise.
Starting Point of $200 per square foot allows us to produce solid fused glass panels. The price range is usually $200 - $300 per square foot.
$300 to $500 per
square foot allows us to produce panels that possibly include the above plus
cast or sculpted glass features.
Cost Estimates
After initial consultation and design approval, an estimate of the project is presented. An estimate is based on:
The
size of the project (in square feet).
The
techniques required to perform the design.
The
types of glass required.
The glass used to create our unique panels and art pieces is
specially tested at the factory to make sure each piece of glass expands uniformly
in the presence of heat (called the coefficient of expansion). This type of
glass must be used when heating and fusing glass to ensure the glass does not
break after it has been cooled down properly.
This glass is double the cost of stained glass, which is not tested for compatibility. We are very diligent about getting the best price for our glass. The use of this glass influences the starting point of our pricing and explains why our pricing and the nature of this work cannot be compared to traditional stained glass technique.
The
labour (time) needed to achieve the desired result.
Glasswork techniques, by their nature, are time consuming.
However, due to the methods of cutting, layering, testing, repeated melting,
cooling of the glass and assembly techniques, the overall labour required is
about three times that needed for traditional stained glass technique. The extra
steps taken, and our attention to detail, are what add depth and texture to
our work. The extra time needed influences the starting point of our pricing.
An estimate of time to completion is also presented. Projects requiring a number of specialized techniques such as fusing, shaping, casting of glass require longer periods to complete.
A 50% deposit is
required for the project to proceed beyond the initial consultation and design
phase.
