The International Association for Transformation (IAT)

A multi-faceted initiative

The International Association for Transformation, a Victoria, Canada based charitable organization, was founded in 1979. Its mission includes programs to develop human potential through fostering cross-cultural unity and understanding, raising the awareness of youth and supporting their efforts to creative positive global change. For 18 years it has organized and run programs in the Philippines which have been handed over to the indigenous people trained through the programs of IAT. In British Columbia it is working with First Nations peoples and other youth in leadership programs on Vancouver Island. Their current initiative is developing an International Youth Training Centre in Costa Rica where IAT has obtained 200 acres of farmland and rainforest overlooking the Pacific.

Gumboot Productions joined this initiative in 1996 as a communications arm of the association. In February 1997 an initial visit was made to the land in Costa Rica to videotape its potential and document the initial projects starting up on the land. In June 1997 a brief overview program of IAT and its work, past and present, was produced to assist in fundraising for IAT's new project in Costa Rica which is currently ongoing. Gumboot Productions offices in Victoria provides facilities and a venue for the coordination of IAT programs. A long form documentary about the youth exchange and leadership training in the Philippines, Canada and Costa Rica, is in development with Gumboot Productions.
