Set-up Eudora Light
Eudora Light is one of the most widely accepted email programs on the
internet, with several advantages over other programs: It is easy to use,
it always works correctly and in a straight-forward way that is easy to
understand, and it is also free. We recommend this program over any other
email program for Macintosh or Windows.
For more information on Eudora programs, or to download the latest copy of
Eudora Light, go to their website at www.eudora.com.
For some information on how to use Eudora, have a look at their on-line
help. It is one of the best on-line help documentation that we've ever
seen for a program. To access the help, go under the Help menu while
running Eudora.
Setting up Eudora
- First, open the Eudora program.
- It's a good idea to go under the Mailbox menu and open up
the In box. This isn't necessary for the setup as such, but
gives you an idea of what program you are running other than what the
menu items tell you.
- If you are running a Mac, go under the
Special menu and select Settings....
If you are on Windows, then go under the Tools menu and select
Options.
- You should see the following screen under the Getting Started
icon.
The POP Account: should be filled in with your full email address.
Real Name: can be filled in with whatever you like. It is what appears
in the 'From:' field when you send someone mail.
- Click the next icon down, Personal Information.
You'll now see this:
Everything should be filled in except for the Return Address, so
just fill in your full email address as per usual. Remember not to use
any capitals!
- Now click on the Hosts icon.
All you need in here is the mail server address. Eudora calls this
(correctly) the SMTP:.
Fill this in with mail.coastnet.com
- Click on the Checking Mail icon.
The only thing you need to worry about here is that if you want Eudora to
save your password so that it won't ask each time, then click the Save
Password box. Everything else can stay as it is now.
That's it. You are now ready to send and receive mail through Eudora.
To check your mail, simply go under the File menu and select
Check Mail.
