"Artist at Work"
I've always been fascinated by the actual process of
making art. I remember one of my primary school teachers
talking about the "organized confusion" found
in an artist's studio. My studio is like this when my
work is at it's best

"Beach in Victoria, B.C."
Emily Carr, one of Canada's finest artists from the
past, sat on this beach and enjoyed the same experience
as I have here. The same sounds of waves, the same clouds.
The same peace.

"Cows Near my Home"
I especially like the free brushwork in the trees of
this painting. That is what I liked about the later
works of Emily Carr. Lots of life breathing between
the brushstrokes, allowing the ground colours to seep
through and penetrate your senses. Cows are very curious
creatures. They are very interested in people.

"Cut Tulips"
I love tulips! You plant them and they just keep coming
back generation after generation. Just like generations
of family. That's why I study so many tulips.

"A Day out with Emily"
When I hike into a clearing of trees in the forest,
I see nothing but Emily Carrs all around me. I explore
the same shapes and rhythms, with varying success. I
certainly enjoy the ride of emotions that develope while
searching .
