Deryk's Trip to Iraq in 1999
If you haven't read the statement on my
main webpage, explaining how I feel about the tragedy
of September 11, 2001, please take
the time to have a look.

I visited Iraq in early April, 1999 as part of a humanitarian
delegation.
During this trip I confirmed that children are still
dying at a rate of two hundred a day. The hospitals
are not able to get the supplies they need and according
to Unicef and other agencies, the oil for food program
has merely maintained a level of chronic malnutrition.
The Canadian government; Jean Chretien and Lloyd Axworthy,
among others, have supported this nightmare for the
Iraqi children. The text on the right panel reads, "The
incompatibility with the spirit and the letter of the
charter constitutes a tragedy for the UN, and severely
threatens to undermine the UN's credibility and legitamacy
as a benign force for peace and human well-being throughout
the world."
